Well here I sit on Marco Island..... waiting on Wilma
Collier County EOC tells me I should expect an ave wind of 102; peak gust of 121 and a duration of sustained winds of 16.5 hours of TS winds or higher; and lets not forget the surge of 11-13 feet.
This will not be an "upstate" or "Cross state" landfall, in fact this will be a normal or purpendicular landfall and that is not good.
At the time of this post Wilma has dropped 2mb's and it hasn't reached the loop current so we are all on pins and needles waiting to see if that latent heat is enough to put her back to cat three status.
Of course those of us involved in synoptic climatology have been waiting since Monday when the constant pressure charts first showed an atmospheric ripple..... so needless to say we are tired and anxious.
My barograph is now starting to drop off more than the normal daily dinural pressure diferential would indicate so I guess "it's on"
It's been fun.... all of you in Florida (south) enjoy, I know I will.
Went down to the beach and met Steph. yesterday... wish I hadn't it was a dissapointment..... bummer.
Also saw an ominus sight Friday as a NOAA P-3 was overflying Marco at aprox 800ft.... it was taking the before pic's... put a chill down my spine.
On the bright side I'm a little luckier that you Artist as if I have no power for days at least in is going to be in the upper 50's at night so AC won't be missed.
I will post any "great" storm pic's when the island gets back on her feet.
Good luck and good bye
