[Anderson] Cooper isn�t the only well-known TV personality hiding his sexual orientation. Shepard Smith, who hosts a popular program on Fox News and received widespread praise for his work covering Hurricane Katrina�s aftermath, also dodges questions about his sexual orientation.

Smith once chatted me up in a New York City gay piano bar, bought me drinks, and invited me back to his place. When I declined, he asked me to dinner the next night, another invitation I politely refused.

We sat at the bar chatting and drinking martinis until 3 a.m., our conversation interrupted only when he paused to belt out the lyrics to whatever showtune was being performed.

I've heard the gossip for a long time.

True or not, I don't see what it has to do with his ability to report news. Now, if Cooper and Shep were boyfriends, that would be news, IMO!

I've read about both of them quite a few times. I'm not sure if it was just on message boards/blogs or newspaper articles. I think this is the first time i've read about one of them trying to "pick another guy up". Although, I doubt he'll pull a presser and say he's not gay, probably just ignore it.

Well, I can speak to what I know; if he's picked up guys before, I dunno, but...

One of my best friends, a female, was madly in love with Shepard for 3 years or so (and he loved her too). If he is gay, he sure has a funny way of showing it, what with all the sex he was having with her. And he dated other women before and after her (if not during). He'd fly in from anywhere to be with her, and I mean anywhere. And she flew to him too often to count.

Shep's had a bunch of other problems in life, too many to name, but his title should be 'survivor.' I seriously doubt this outing as based in reality.

As a once and maybe future Fox employee, Shep stands as one of the giants there, always on the big stories and his performances (with a few exceptions) are always worthy.

No doubt, anon, that Shep is one big cheese at FNC.

He's good at his job, seems llike a good guy, and that is all that counts.

He could be bi-sexual? Either way, he's grabbing some @$$! Woo hoo!

I wouldn't be surprised if this "story" originated with a dirty tricks campaign being ran by a cable network with plummenting ratings. If you can't beat 'em, trash 'em. It's done in broadcast markets by competing stations all the time. Anon can probably confirm this.

Besides, something about basing your operation in Atlanta makes you control freaks. Mabye it's in the water.

He's always flirting with the ladies. I remember him practically drooling all over Juliet when she was pretty new there, saying all the guys would be sad to hear she was engaged. It was their New Year's Eve thing a couple of years ago.
