Artist -

This new board is awesome! I was wondering, though...would it be possible to split into four different forums? I don't know how much work it takes, so if it is a lot, then forget it. If it is possible, I was thinking these four forums would be cool:

Women of Weather Channel
All Other Women
Political Section
Other Interests Section

It's just an idea. I think it might get people to utilize the site more, and if they hate the politics stuff, they can just avoid it. My favorite board does this and it works great!

My 2 cents:

The idea of just one forum works best for me. Less confusion. Less to monitor.

The last thing that we need is a politics section. Remember last year on T-bone's board? We don't need everyone at each other's throats here. There are plenty of other boards dealing with that. And, believe me, the bad blood in one section would spill over.

That is an interesting idea, but I like the one board. As long as everyone follows the few simple rules, then this can be the new version of the community that T-Bone nurtured for so long. It can't replace it, but it can try.

The other problem with multiple sections is that most folks color outside the lines, so politics would drift into TWC women and TWC women drift into others and so on.

Well, that would be the reason for the Politics board. I was on another board and the animosity over the politics and religion talk got to the point people were almost ready to revolt. So, they created a forum just for people who wanted to talk about politics and the people who do want to read and talk about it go in there and the ones who would rather stay clear away are never bothered with it. It works pretty well.

Sounds like a great idea but, when you have people on the same board that talk politics they'll spill over. So then this part of the board will have to deal with people that will bring politics into ANY discussion possible. Even if the rules state no politics on this side of the board. I've seen it too many times.

It all depends on the board and the moderator, I think. I bet Artist could put a stop to any shenanigans on this board. I have pretty much come back because I think brighter days are ahead!

Last year on T-bone's board, certain people turned EVERY subject into a political one. It simply will not work. People are never happy to simply debate the merits (or lack of merits) of an issue. It descends into personal attacks using a lot of words starting with the letter "F."

Artist doesn't have the time to babysit a bunch of potential troublemakers. There are a lot of political boards out there to go to. Let this be one place where people can come simply to enjoy themselves and not have to deal with people showing their astounding lack of basic knowledge on various issues of the day.

I don't like the idea of splitting it up IF (Big IF) we can maintain some sense of decorum. We usually do off-season. Of course, last November was a big one, and emotions were high on every side of every issue. So I'd throw last year out as an example of how we are here.

I hold onto the idea that if a certain topic heading looks like trouble, don't bother going. Or if a thread slides into some sort of shouting match, hop off. Or think before you submit, "Do I really want to say this and begin the war again?" I've written so many things on KA-razy Talk, only to hit the 'back' button instead of making things worse by submitting.

Also, Shoptalk's Watercooler became a madhouse of politics last year, to the point that it was oppressive (way worse than this board). So Don decided to split 'em up and I never, ever bother to go to the politics board. The same thing would happen here.

One board is plenty to me.

You don't have to worry about shouting matches and board wars. The perpetrators will be harshly dealt with.

The arguments on T-bone's board went well into this year. Adult children who never grew up throwing tantrums.

It is Communist infiltration, Communist indoctrination, Communist subversion and the international Communist conspiracy sapping and impurifing all of our precious bodily fluids.
